What the Lakers need is...

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

If they had a savvy veteran scorer who could close out 4th quarters, their record would be much better. What they do have going for them is that they run, and run some more, and keep running. This allows them to be competitive even when they lack the player they need, but it doesn't help them in close 4th quarters. The Lakers are one scoring vet and one shooter away.

What do you think?

What we need is for Luke to stop pretending we are the Warriors, and stop jacking up all these threes.  We dominate in the paint not outside the arc.  We need to start making free throws and stop turning the ball over.  We need Luke to put in half court offense because we have NONE.  Rotations are terrible.  When Lonzo doesn't play we are the worst team in the league.

My thoughts are we have a very young team and a very young coaching staff. We have everyone learning at the same time and very slowly on top of that. Luke is not a Pat Riley or Phil Jackson or even Del Harris. We have some talent on the team but Luke and the players aren't able to get the job done. The team isn't executing what they are taught in practice and Luke isn't able to keep them motivated. They do well in stretches on the court and reportedly they do well in practice but they aren't able to sustain the effort for the whole game. When it gets down to it, the coaches aren't on the court the players are and it is up to them to do what they are learning in practice. Perhaps if they each earned a few million dollars more they would perform like they are taught to do. Maybe they think they are under payed. However the defense has improved.

Hear is how they compare through 37 games :            Record        Winning %        Total Loss Points      Average /Game

I agree with everything Lakers dynasty 834 said. We really need to establish a half court offense, I really like when they are pushing the pace and running, but when shots aren't falling for some players then they get behind on points. The lakers in the 80's use to swing that ball around like no bodies business. Everyone touching the ball, moving. If you just rely on the perimeter and the opposition shuts that down then what? Need some bigs to dominate the post to open up the perimeter. Keep the other teams on their toes instead of being predictable.  When going up against other great coaches, it's a game of chess, not checkers. Get the Mamba on the coaching team please.

We don't know that Kobe can coach.  Magic was a fantastic player, loved him, but he was a terrible coach.    Kobe equally as good, if not better, but that does not equate to a great coach.
