About 30yrLakerFan

  1. I think the Lakers really screwed up by bringing in KCP, he has not lived up to contract and is playing to much hero ball and trying to show he can be the face to get his Max contract. Now the only difference is at least he still plays hard and gets his minutes, I just Don't see him buying into Walton's offense. It's pretty apparent that the draft picks from former regime are on the ropes with their play time ( except BI) even Nance now. Randle and Clarkson do have an argument to be playing more, but they can't let that influence their game. Even if Randle only gets 22 min or 19 like last night he still got 16 energetic points. He keeps playing like that someone Will notice and overpay for his service, unless Lakers want to deplete his value so they can retain him cheaper. All I know is no one should say Kuzma is jealous because he is balling 27.8 pts last 5. Ball, Randle, Hart/Clarkson, BI, kuzma should start.
  2. First off he is 6th (tied with love .416) amount PF is 3pt FG % and 6th in Att so very efficient. Let's just look at his last 5 games 39.8 mpg .529 FG .564 3pt (7.8att) 7.4 Reb 3 ass .8 BLK 1.0stl 2.0TO and 27.8 PPG....that's super star stats. If you look at month of November 18.2 game and fact he only has had 1 bad game (vs 76ers 4pt 1-7 in a win) and that he can create his own shot, shoot hooks, and 4's and fact he can start game by shooting an air all and finish 6-11 from 3 means he got that Mamba mentality. Kuzma to me should be handled like a Max player meaning we only need to add one more and a 3pt specialist. I'd like to see us retain Randle add George, or Jordan...
  3. KCP gots to go

6-29 over his last 4 games from 3....taking too many shots from kuzma, Hart is essentially the same player in mold and he seems to buy into Walton's offense more than Hero ball KCP who looking for Max contract....I didn't think it was good idea paying 17 million for one year to a guy looking for Max and ask him to buy into team concept on a losing team. The guy turned down like 80$ mil and fact is his PER is under 12 compared to Clarkson 17.34 that makes 12.5$. Honestly we should consider shipping him out, he is not helping us win. Kuzma is the only Laker who should be throwing up 10+ 3pta in a game. Kcp has been decent when he drives and then making free throws , but he wants to shoot 3's..I'll gladly take back Wayne Ellington to play the 2. KCP would be replaced by Hart in this scenario and Ellington would be our 3pt sniper (43% over 200att) now I'm not saying trade kcp for Wayne straight up as kcp value still higher, but sell now before he drops his value more. I see KCP for George scenarios and that ain't happening without throwing in Nance and prob Caruso and bryant. All I know is I'm sick of watching KCP play hero ball, and then look at stat sheet to see 1-10 3pt and we lose in OT to best team in NBA history. His defense is not good enough to compensate him shooting the 16th most 3pt by 2guard and being 41/44 on 3pt % at 33.5%. Just to make you understand how bad that is top 20 2gd shoot 38%+. Which really just makes me scratch my head to why we traded Lou Williams, supposedly he stole shots from youngster albeit at a 40% clip and for only 7$...I guess it netted us Josh Hart and Thomas Bryant.
  4. Points, schmoints, and stats

I have been very critical at times of Ball this year, but also say what I like about him...I believe he would had benefitted as I think most rookies would by starting in GLeague just to build up his confidence for 15-20 But now since we have surpassed that time frame I do see Lonzo improving his 3 pt shooting and starting to add a mid range jumper that looks very promising. Id also like to see him handle the ball more as their are many times. He passes to push but the recipient has no play. So I'd like to see him handle the ball more and attack like he did in overtime vs Warriors (in time). I have to remind myself if lavar ball were not in picture and never heard his mouth, Lonzo would not have the critics he has..including shamefully..myself, and that's what I have to throw out and asses his game as a rookie and then I go okay he blocks shots at rate of PF or Center(has couple games with 4 already) he steals like a Pg, rebounds like PF/SF and passes like Magic. So shooting is Sexy and guy like kuzma can do that, but ceiling of def player of year with floor being prob 3rd teamed in future or honorable mention all defensive team along with fueling of leading league in assists or floor of top 7 in assists and he is not a bust. All Lonzo has to do is add either a mid range or weight to finish at rim and he will become a 15pt a night guy and in 2-3 he will be 17pt 12ass 8 Reb 2 steals 2 blocks 35-37% 3pt and top 5 MVP vote getter. Now I do cringe every 3 pt shot he shoots and more so the layups but it is starting to fall. Now moving on The Lakers really need to see what they have in T.Bryant who. Has been terrorizing the GLeague as B.Lopez. Continues to struggle and hoist up bad 3's 8-38 and 15-71 from 3(Lopez shooting 29% going back to last January from 3) Bryant only in 2 year contract and we may be sitting g on a Clint Cappella with 3pt range.
  5. First off I have watched every game this year and since Randle got used to being benched around game 3 he has only had 3-4 off nights compared to about 15 by lopez. Lopez was brought in to create space, but is 15-71 over last month and my gear is though he shot about 35% last season is that he made 40% thru January then has been under 30% since up thru now. So, I Don't see this as a slump, but more of the norm. The problem with it is he shoots 4 a game. I won't mention Ball's struggles at 3pt line because he is actually starting to click last few games over top competition and isn't a 10+ year vet. I thought this would be a perfect marriage, but they actually look like better team with Randle at center running that pick n roll with JC and would love to see Ball run that, but untill he fully developes a mid range game and adds weight to take ball to the rim I Don't see him running that. Problem is Randle is a little undersized, so I would love to see how Lakers would do with a Noel splitting the minutes at Center with Randle. Just remember Lopez is only hitting 29% of his 3's since last January so saying he created space is a joke. Now If all of sudden Lopez decides to revert to playing primarily inside like pre '16 then forget this and he would fit in perfect, but his back I believe is holding him back and this is him reinventing himself. If we could spread out his 4 3pa a game (many games he shoots 7+) to guys shooting 35%+ like Kuzma 38, JC &KCP 35%, Ingram & Ball(% Don't matter need to develope). If not Randle may as well be in there shooting 3's as he is around a 29%. Randle has been Mr consistency though and some may argue he does what he does because he only plays around 20-22 minutes but as good of shape he's in and fact he never looks tired I think he could go 33 a night. I'd like to see him with Kuzma, Ingram in front court. The starting guards I could argue with starting JC(18PER )over Bal(11PER)or KCP(12PER), but won't ever happen, but we will see Hart in there for KCP. This is interesting because I think Hart even for rookie gives us near same amount of defense, but from what I have seen he has embraced Walton's offense more than Pope. I see pope do a lot of hero ball type play and opting to shoot over passing for much better shot. Let's remember he is on 1 yr deal and looking for 100+$ contract(not gonna happen I think he screwed up big-time and may not get more than JC). If Hart continues to perform well when kcp is out, I would not be surprised to see KCP traded...Lopez either. I'm also to point that I'd like to see Thomas Bryant get a shot at being primary backup. If anything you want to see what you got in Hart and Bryant. If Hart can show he can be another steal(starting to look like it) he is on a massively valuable contract like Nance and Kuzma are on and that helps absorb the Deng contract.. if Nance or kuzma were FA tomorrow they'd each get 10$ if not 15$ million a year each. To me if you watch the games it's evident Hart will be a core rotational player for years to come maybe not an all star...maybe he. Makes 1-2, but he will be value for next 4 years.
